Origins of the Glass Mazu
The principal deity enshrined in the temple is the Glass Mazu, whose divine title is:
“The Benevolent Heavenly Empress Who Brings Salvation to All Beings.”
By divine decree, the Glass Mazu was created as a sacred embodiment of the spiritual essence of Mazu from five significant sites across the Taiwan Strait:
1.Her ancestral home in Putian
2.Her birthplace
3.The place of her ascension
4.The site where she first received official recognition and worship
5.The place where her faith first took root in Taiwan
The Glass Mazu’s principal mission is to spread benevolence, answer the cries of those in need, embrace all beings with compassion, guide people toward goodness, improve social customs, and purify the human heart.
Following the consecration and enshrinement of the Benevolent Heavenly Empress at Taiwan Husheng Temple, the Glass Mazu Temple opened a new chapter in Taiwan’s religious faith and culture.
